I'm glad people still accept them xD
man is lucky he didnt give it to pay back a loan
Kon!
The irony that Bunko had that spell running several years…
That's what makes the difference between tanuki magic and kitsune magic.
Review:
Uchi no Shishou wa Shippo ga Nai! (My Master Has No Tail!)
Genre: Historical, Seinen, Supernatural
Studio: LIDENFILMS
Known for anime's like Tokyo Revengers (S2 starts this next year), Yamada-kun to 7-nin no Majo (Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches!), Koi to Uso, and so forth.
This anime light hearted and cute but it's average and comedy only too light hearted but it's a ok watch. 7/10 verdict.
10/10 Bunko-shishou was hot. :P
Haha, nah, 7/10 is pretty reasonable. I enjoyed this series a great deal, but mostly for all the characters except Mameda, and also because I genuinely enjoy rakugo.
Same. I would love to attend a rakugo hall. Why didntcha like Mameda though? I thought she was cute, and kind of a breath of 'fresh air'. 😌
Mameda was indeed cute, but I constantly found myself face-palming at her words and actions, and not out of enjoyment. I certainly don't hate Mameda, but if I were to list out all the characters from the show in order of how much I enjoyed them, Mameda would be pretty far down the list.
5/10, nice to see Rakugo get some attention.
Yep
It's a 5 for me.
Not much to write home about; it's not bad but it ain't good either. There's just better options. The after credits scene with Mameda explaining rakugo every episode is just a snoozefest.
I'm happy that LIDENFILMS has gotten better recently with Tokyo Revengers and Call of the Night in terms of production though.
Btw check out "Lupin Zero" it's pretty good, it's a prequal to the Lupin 3rd series.
Also this has
Apart from Part 5 on Adult Swim, never really watched much Lupin.
Also, how good are the scenes?
Good and has that old school funny.
Do you have the timestamp(s)?
True.
Bunko & Mameda's relationship was the main aspect for me.
The premise was somewhat shallow as usual though.
Elder Tanuki gave up due to not innovating to keep up with human innovation, tanukis could've even innovated to the point of enriching themselves by trading with humans.
Plus tanukis should practice their magic for their own sakes instead of being so shortsighted.
Then naive Mameda refused to give up to try to remember & cope with losing her dead naive father. Bunko had an affinity with Mameda due to both being magical canids so she told Mameda to go home due to Mameda clearly being too naive for her own good & being in over her head. But Mameda found a new path due to seeing Bunko perform.
I was wondering if Bunko wasn't willing to give Mameda detailed instruction due to Bunko trying to hide her secret identity but it turns out Bunko misunderstood her own shishou's vague riddle words.
Mameda is the typical cliched ditz chara, so it's harder for her to figure out stuff herself like Bunko told her too.
Compare Shiroe & Minori's relationship, Shiroe gave her detailed instruction especially about critical thinking, i.e. they're not mutually exclusive like the false dichotomy this series presents.
Relatedly, Critical Thinking Education from infancy greatly needed in society to minimize illogic.
Shitty old man
FIN
I liked this one, although take that with a grain of salt because I skipped most of the actual Rakugo.
Still nice though.
nice ending i personally see some girls love charms in the scenes
Really enjoyed this one. Lots of fun.
Bunko's illusion technique lasts for years. That's impressive, TBH.
Well. What should I say? As I mentioned in the first episode, I don't find Rakugo interesting at all, and that stays true until the very end. Watching this every week feels more like a chore than entertaining. The later episodes (especially the final episode) managed to pull it back for a bit but it's a bit too late.
There's still something worth mentioning, though. For the starter, the casts are decent. While Mameda might be my least favorite of them all, her tanuki's shenanigan still managed to amuse me for some time. I found Bunko's problem-solving using her Rakugo skill to be quite well written. The support casts, especially the Big Four are interesting. Too bad they were introduced too late and have very little screen time.
The main problem I have with this show is the main story could not captivate me. As mentioned, I don't find Rakugo interesting at all and since the plots revolve around it, I can't say I really care about the story that much.
Ironically, I found the character's backstory much more interesting than the main story itself.
The ED is quite relaxing but it's still not good enough for me to add it to my playlist.
Overall, it's a 5/10 anime. I wonder why this season's Friday is so empty and there's not a single interesting show airing. It might be cursed.
Lupin Zero is interesting though since it's prequal to Monkey Punch's fame series franchise.
Everyone complaining about the Rakugo being boring… it’s an anime about rakugo. What did you expect ??
Relaxing anime, I liked it! ❤️
Wait, we don't get to see her pass Utaroku's test? :(
A solid little show. Definitely a 7/10. I hope Mameda's elders find out about her soon! 🦊💕
I wasnt feeling this at first but after the first few episode I started to enjoy this
all these shows coming to an end....2023 must have a interesting lineup after xmas
This ended nicely
The Master has No Tail is brought to you by LIDENFILMS, the studio behind Tokyo Revengers, Call of the Night, Yamada-kun, Koi to Uso, Cells at Work Black, Hanebado, Kotaro Lives Alone, and more.
Between this, Teppen, and a few others, it's like rakugo and other Japanese comedy has become a thing in anime the last few years. And well....this doesn't exactly translate that well here in the West, especially here in the US.
I'd give out some positives, but there aren't any. The artstyle and animation is bland. I get this is 1920s Japan but this looks so lifeless. The characters are forgettable, and as far as our two leads, I don't buy that Bunko's one of the best rakugo performers given she does the exact same voice, like she has no range or variety. And Mameda's just OK. I like MAO's performance as the tanuki, but this is the same woman who's voiced Iris from Fire Force, Peco from Priconne, and Shion from That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. She's done better than this. And I get comedy's subjective, but I didn't find this funny.
Overall, this is easily one of, if not the most boring anime I've watched all year. There's better options than this.
Final Verdict: 5/10
So we're really going to just forget about Mameda's exams until next season, if that ever comes out? Well, alright, then.
But that was some pretty strong messaging at the end. It's all elementary for me, but it's important communication nonetheless, regardless of how I might despise the anti-humanist theme. It's a nice depiction of honouring tradition while striking out on your own path, and it would honestly kill me inside if the Daikokutei name died out because of the previous head's selfish wishes. Bunko really came into her own here, too, and this might honestly be her shining performance. It's nice to see her actually care for Mameda, too. She'll make a great master yet.
It's a great show, regardless. I loved all the characters, and the adventure of the week formula stuck really well. Shirara would have to be my favourite, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel the strongest connection to Bunko and Mameda. They represent what I'm like when it comes to my own mastery; Bunko is what I want out of being a master - cold, aloof, professional - meanwhile Mameda is closer to what I'm actually like - goofy, strong headed and stubborn - even though I manage to strike a good mix down the middle. Well, maybe I err on the side of Mameda more often than not, but I work hard to be more like Bunko.
Overall, a really good show, full of interesting characters and a brilliant storylines, with lots of Rakugo to enjoy.
2/10
I may enjoy Rakugo, but that doesn't mean I have to like it
I find Rakugo uninteresting and couldn't care less about it. Stayed for Bunko and it's honestly a good anime to binge with all the wholesome moments there.
The manga is still ongoing though.
of they will be touched
This anime was decent for me, but I hate how they didn't make one more episode for Mameda to pass Utaroku's test as well! What about the last test???The story seems incomplete without that happening, I feel they rushed it too much! Because of this, the rest of the story seems like it was for naught without Mameda achieving her dream in the end and I doubt they will make a new season! :(
The anime overall had nice stories and I love the medieval Japan aspect to it. Quite the likeable characters and some of the masters deserved a bit more screen time and respect. But I guess the author's laziness played a role here.
Overall Score: 6/10.
Decent characters Mameda and Bunko, but this series is dull & easy to forget. Rakugo is one of the most boring "arts", I had to skip almost every story.
Mameda never return to Tanuki's village, all the Tanuki who make fun of her ended up being hunted down by human and becomes Tanuki hot pot.
Feels like i just watched episode 1 yesterday, 3 months gone in just a blink of an eye.
A nice feel-good anime.
